Community Outreach Program

May 9 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Mark your calendars for the first 2026 Community Outreach Program in the Davis Instructional Garden (DIG) on Saturday, May 9th from 10:00 am till noon.  The Community Outreach Program is designed to provide just in time information to local gardeners across the garden growing season and provide answers to your specific questions about your gardening experience.  We are delighted to have Don Davis back again for 2026 to kick off our outreach program with a presentation on “Vegetable Gardening, Hints & Techniques” and then answer your specific questions. For anyone new to the Lynchburg area, Don Davis is the local lawn and gardening expert who founded the Master Gardener Program in Lynchburg, the person DIG was named in honor of, a retired County Extension Agent and now weekly contributor to The News & Advance’ s Sunday gardening column.
Since May is when people are planting their garden, the presentation and answers Don provides is a great way to avoid gardening mistakes and have a productive season.  The program will be provided under the garden pavilion where we have a limited number of chairs available.  To ensure you have a seat for the program please bring a lite portable chair if possible to ensure you have a seat for the program.  We will have water and a sign-in sheet for attendees on  the first table you encounter under the pavilion.  I hope most of you can take advantage of this exciting program that will open the 2026 Community Outreach Program at the Davis Instruction Garden. Please let me know if you will be able to attend so we can better plan the event seating.aerial drone shot of the garden plots at DIG
